Bundy Museum and Roberson Center Trip

Message from Nancy Kocher (CCAL trip coordinator):

Hi All,

Happy Fall everyone!

I have a trip planned Saturday, November 19, 2016 to the Bundy Museum and the Roberson Museum and Science Center.  A signup form is attached below with all of the information. If you are taking the course, It’s About Time! The Bundy Manufacturing Co. & IBM’s Early History this trip would be a great way to see in person what the course is all about.

The trip leaves Oneonta at 9:45 am returning by 6:00 pm on Sat., Nov. 19th. COST IS VERY REASONABLE at $44.00 per person. This includes transportation, both guided tours at the museums, the planetarium show, the Roberson mansion tour and the tips for both the bus driver and the docents. Lunch will be at your expense.

We will have a guided tour of the Bundy Museum, if you are unable to do stairs (I must be informed when you register) so they can set up the museum room with the virtual tour of the mansion.  There is no elevator. We will go to lunch at a well know restaurant Little Venice in Binghamton. The restaurant was recommended by both museums and Eastern Travel.  The cost of lunch is on your own. The restaurant has reasonable price points and a great looking menu.  Google Little Venice in Binghamton to check it out.

After lunch we will visit the Roberson Museum & Science Center for a guided tour of the mansion, a self guided tour of the museum and we will also see the Planetarium Show.  The Museum and Science center continues to be locally, regionally and nationally recognized for it’s excellence in art, history and science education.

The Roberson will be decorated for the holidays at this time, an added bonus!

Upcoming Bundy Museum Trip

Upcoming Bundy Museum Trip – Binghamton, NY

I am working on a trip to the Bundy Museum  of History & Art in Binghamton, NY.  CCAL is offering a course, (It’s The Bundy Manufacturing Co. and IBM’s Early History) being given by Janna Rudler on October 7th that will take you through the history of IBM and the local people who started the company. I have decided to plan a trip to the museum, lunch and another museum in the afternoon. It is still in the working stage.

This trip will be in October and might be scheduled for a Saturday for those folks who may still be working.  Watch for the notice, I should finalize this soon.

You can enjoy the trip even if you are unable to make the CCAL class.  My email trip list has a number of people who like our trips but are not members of CCAL.  Please feel free to forward my email to friends and family regarding the next trip, all are welcome.

Trip to Clayton NY & Thousand Islands September 7, 2016

Message from Nancy Kocher – CCAL trip coordinator:

Hi Everyone,

I have a CCAL Fundraiser bus trip to Clayton, NY in Thousand Islands. Please see the attachment for the information.  I will send you more information regarding the boxed lunch choices before the trip.

We will be visiting the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton where you will be amazed at this wonderful museum.  The vintage boats is outstanding and include racing boats, sailboats and pleasure boats.  This museum not only represents the boating industry but gives lots of historical and education on the Thousand Island area.  You will learn about the use of boats in exploration, racing and war. They also have George Boldt’s houseboat on display. I was fascinated with this museum when I visited and I have never been a boater. The reviews are very good online for this museum. We will have 1 1/2 hours at the Boat Museum.

We will have a 3 hour Thousand Island boat cruise that will include a stop at Rock Island Lighthouse State Park where we will enjoy a boxed lunch, visit the cottage museum and if you like, walk up to the top of the Lighthouse. The island has shaded areas and benches for your comfort. We will board the cruise at 12:00 and return to Clayton around 3:30 where you will have time to stroll the streets for a little shopping and dinner before boarding the bus at 6:00 pm.  Most of the shops are open until 5:00 and there are many great choices with varying price points for dinner or snacks.

If you have any questions, send me an email or give me a call at:

New Trip!!   Saratoga Springs – Victorian Era/Historical Guided Tour

Message from Nancy Kocher (trip coordinator):
We will be going to Saratoga Springs on December 7th, where guides dressed in Victorian costumes will board the bus for a 2 hour tour of the Victorian mansions that still remain in Saratoga.  This will be a fun-filled event with lots of history, interesting stories and scandals of the era shared with us by an author and historian of the Saratoga area, Dr. Hollis Palmer. After our morning tour you will have free time to shop in the lovely village and to have lunch on your own.  Cost in the area for a nice lunch ranges between $10 – $15.

After shopping/lunch we will board the bus and go to the Batcheller Mansion where our guide Dr. Palmer will take on the role of Mr. Batcheller for our tour.

I already have a number of folks who want to come so please sign up as soon as possible because space will be limited.  This is a great time to do some holiday shopping. Cost for the trip is a bargain at $77!  I have a few surprises in store for everyone who takes the trip, so please come along. We board the bus at 8:00 am and will return home approx. 6:00 pm.
