Fall 2018 Annual Meeting
CCAL members and non-members are invited to attend a presentation given by longtime CCAL member and presenter Paul Scheele, former professor at SUNY Oneonta, and co-presenters, Prof. Laurel Elder from Hartwick College, and Prof. Richard Berberio from SUNY Oneonta. All three are political scientists.
The 2018 Midterm Elections: Post Election Assessments, sponsored by the SUNY Political Science Club, will be held on Friday, November 9 from 3 to 5 PM in Craven Lounge, Morris Hall on the SUNY Oneonta campus. The format of the class will include a 12-15 minute presentation from each of the facilitators and then questions and comments from the audience.
If you plan to attend, please e-mail Donna Behrendt at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call Joan Kollgaard at (607) 441-3283 by November 5 so that we have an idea of numbers to expect. Thank you.

Senator James Seward secured a Special Legislative Grant through the NY State Education Department for CCAL. Initiated by President Alice Cannistra’s inquiry to the Senator’s office regarding available funding for adult education programs, the $20,000 windfall was far beyond any expectations.
Alice was surprised and delighted to learn of the generous funding “which will help enhance our ability to expand CCAL’s offerings”. Senator Seward announced the grant at CCAL’s Annual Meeting on October 16th in Morris Hall and The Daily Star wrote an article about CCAL in its October 18th edition.
A Grants Advisory Committee has been formed to gather ideas for the disbursement of these funds and to oversee all financial aspects included in the process. Committee members are Treasurer Olive Crews, Secretary Lillian Mathisen, Denise Brandow, Lori Wolverton and President Alice Cannistra.
Any creative suggestions regarding the utilization of this funding can be directed to any committee member.
All CCAL members are cordially invited to celebrate the holiday season at our first ever Holiday Open House on Sunday, December 11th from 2-4 p.m. at Rowe House.
We have met the minimum number to book the lunch at the Thayer Hotel. There is still plenty of room so join us on this trip!
April 29, 2016 Update – only 12 seats left. Hurry up before there is none left.
